Amsterdam Zuid

With the last day in Amsterdam upon us (thank god) we took the executive decision to sleep in all morning and forgo any culture on this leg of the trip. We then got up to sample some more local cuisine in a quaint little place called McDonalds. (Chicken nuggets and a quater pounder = the yummy). We then went to meet the final third of our dynamic trio, Conors cousin Enda. Well actually i went home to bed while Conor got him at the train station.

Once Enda was added into the mix things really kicked up a notch. We rented a pedalo and began terrorising the canals of Amsterdam as plundering pirates. HAR YA HAR HAR HAR ARRRR. We also had someone to remind us to eat regularly, which had become a little bit of a problem. In fact neither Conor or I could remember the lovely local cusine from even that morning. Probably because of the few dry sherries the night before.

We also had to show Enda around the Red Light District. Yawn. Probably my least favourite place in the world. We then went for a further few dry sherries, meeting up with some of the people from the pub crawl the night before and singing karaoke and dancing (apparently) until 5 in the morning.

So ok, pretty much the Amsterdam part of the trip was all about getting slighty tipsy and staggering home the next morning. At least we got it out of our systems....right?

So in review of this part of the trip:

The frites (chips) were not as good as i remembered
The pizza tastes like Difontaines in temple bar
Curry (Kerrie) sauce is amazing

Things we saw:

Anne Frank huis (outside)
Other pedalos
Boats
Duck seduction (by other ducks)
Blumenmarkt
Rijksmuseum (outside)

Hotel Iris sucks (hard)
Hotel Citizen M is freaking amazing

I need to look into integrated control system for my room (wishful thinking)

Conor is an idiot (he wonders how trams know how to turn -----Thomas the Tank Engine jokes ensued)
