Amsterdam Day One

Arrived on time into Schiphol airport....my god is that a long taxi ride on the plane after you land. 20 mins sitting around twiddling my thumbs :-p

Then had a quick settling down from the flight pint in the airport bar....which was nice...except i have to get used to not getting nice cider over here....grrr

Promptly moved on to the train station adjoining the airport...and twenty minutes later we were in Amsterdam city centre. I love Holland for their trains, if nothing else :-p

Thus began a journey which can only be compared to several circumnavigations of the globe. Slight exageration perhaps. But it was a long walk to the first hotel (which we had previously and quite accurately dubbed 'the shitty hotel'. MY GOD IT WAS BAD. I wouldnt even send enemies there it was so bad. Small room, no check in desk (we had to go around the corner to another hotel) and the smallest toilet cubicle ive ever encountered. Breakfast was passable.

We got outta there fairly sharpish and went back into the city centre. We took in the sights, walked around in circles alot and generally stayed out of mischief as we were both wrecked from the earlier 10000000 mile hike to the hotel. We had a few dry sherries and partook of some local cuisine before locating a taxi man and heading back for a few zzzz's
