Karen lookin' rather sweet!!
The start of our trip was certainly eventful. First, an evacuation of the departure lounge at Heathrow Airport. After some very emotional goodbyes we finally boarded the plane, only to be held up as a couple on our aisle were asked to leave the plane because of something to do with their luggage in the hold (yeah right!) They were told the plane would not leave without them but they were never to be seen on the flight again! After they left, the whole area around us had to be searched, including toilets, and our hand luggage had to be identified! Then the wrong luggage was taken off the plane!!! 2 HOURS later and we’re still stuck at Heathrow, instead of en route to Hong Kong!!!
14 ½ hours later and we arrive - raring to go (although a little tired!) Hong Kong was amazing. We spent the whole time walking with our heads in the air gawping up at the HUGE buildings. The skyline was such an amazing sight that I don’t think we’d ever bore of it. We went up the Victoria Peak Tram on Central Island to see the best view of Hong Kong ever. The tram is

practically vertical as it goes up higher and higher and eventually you reach the top with views right across HK. One day was spent going to Lantau Island to see the Big Buddha at Po Lin Monastry which was simply breathtaking. We did the most amount of window shopping (yes window shopping) as we are now on a strict budget so - you’ll find it hard to believe - but we didn’t buy anything!!! (Well, Jamie did buy a pair of trainers - I always said he was the worst for buying out of the two of us!!! (Karen)) Not true!!! (Jamie). We also visited the Avenue of Stars - which had Bruce Lees’ and Jackie Chans’ stars. From here is also the best place to watch the ‘Spectacular Light Show’. At 8pm there is a laser light show from the main skyscrapers in HK’s skyline - this was quite a sight - all done to dramatic music. We went to Kowloon Walled City Park which had some great old Chinese temples. After the 5 days/nights in HK, although we’d had a great time, we were ready to move on as we had seen most of the sites. Just managed

to get used to the time difference by this point.

Karen needs a backpack holder
Hi Karen, remember me. Well I think its about time you sent me my air ticket, so that I am available to carry that backpack you are holding. It looks too heavy for a young girl, and would make it much easier for you if I was carrying it. (Wish I was young again) Many more pictures please.

Wow!!
I agree with Vera and I am also available to assist with that very heavy back pack. Amazing photos of which we want more, and the start of the trip has already gripped my attention. More of everything please.
