Edit Blog Post

Greetings! It's been awhile since posting, so a brief update, real blogs to come later with photos.... in about a month.

Got to Lijiang with no problems, then off to here. The altitude and I didn't get along so much when I started hiking, but otherwise it's been wonderful. I do plan to write Lonely Planet a short memo though. Since LP is for everyone and most of the things listed are for 99.9% of the population, I certainly didn't take the word "strenuous 8 hours" as seriously as I should have. I didn't try to do the whole hike in 8 hours, but I should have taken more than 2 days. And I'm guessing I'm not the first, nor will I be the last. Sufficed to say, Ken and 2 guys from our hostel have laddered their way to the bottom to see the river while I sit here looking at the view and recovering. Which I'm fine with, but I wish they had been less friendly with their warning.

Otherwise, loving it. The view is excellent (shocking, I know) and I still can't believe I'm here.

Off to write in my journal and enjoy the view.

Cheers!

What is the altitude there, and how far was the hike, both distance and altitude change?

the hike
high and long. I've read different numbers depending on the source. 22km long (I've heard up to 30), the highest point being 2660m.
