the biiig park near my house helloooo
here are some pictures of my school and a bit of what's going on in the immediate area. i have more of my school, but i saved them on the computer in my apartment and now i'm at school in the computer lab, so it'll just have to wait. but can i just gripe about one thing for a second -- in the computer lab the computers are american. in english and english keyboards. my computer at home is in italian and has an italian keyboard. switching back and forth is ruining my ability to punctuate. the - and the ? are switched on the keyboard in my apartment. and the ' is weird too. argh.
ok, so last week was my first italian cooking lesson! i didn't actually cook because there were too many people there and if i helped it would have been a literal example of too many cooks in the kitchen, and i just don't approve of that at all. i spent the preparation time trying to watch an italian movie. i couldn't understand what they were saying, but with the subtitles on in italian i could read the movie ok. it was a silly
kid
this kid had a stick and was just whacking trees with it.
whacking. movie.. manuale d'amore. love manual. but back to the food, i have the recipe and could probably reproduce it, it was pasta all'.. all'something.. it was good! bucatini with tomato sauce and bacon?
ok ok ok, i found the recipe. BUCATINI ALL'AMATRICIANA. recipe for 4 people:
500g Bucatini pasta
2 Tbs. Extra Virgin olive oil
2 pkg. cubed pancetta
2 cans whole tomatoes
salt to taste
crushed red peppers to taste
pecorino cheese
Directions: In a pan, drizzle olive oil. Add the packages of pancetta and cook until crispy on a low flame. Toss in some crushed red peppers (peperoncino). Add the two cans of tomatoes to the pancetta. If needed add salt. Let sauce cook for 20 minutes. In the meantime, boil water for your pasta. Cook pasta according to the package directions. After the pasta is cooked and slightly al dente, drain. Add the pasta to the sauce and toss well with a handful of pecorino cheese. Serve hot!
yay! marvel at my cultured-ness!!
