West Texas
Not a lot to it out here Last week, I had the pleasure of being able to drive clear across the wide state of Texas along Interstate 10 (all on the company nickel). First, I flew into El Paso on the morning of Feb 3rd and picked up a new Honda C-RV at a local dealership. This was the first part of my work in Texas. My job was to deliver it to a coworker in Houston. Now it off to San Antonio via the broad expanse of western Texas. Pretty cool scenery. I thought it was neat to see so much empty space for such a long distance. I spent the weekend visiting the parents plus Brent and Holly happened to be there at the same time. Played some golf and hung out for the most part. Also visited the Mission San Jose. Much cooler than the more famous Alamo. San Jose gave me a much better perspective on what mission life was like. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Sunday night (2/5) it was off to Houston. Listened to the Super Bowl along the way on the AM radio. Boring game.
Houston was the second part of job. Here I was to spend the week

What happens when you drive too long by yourself in West Texas. learning the ins and outs of the Highway Attribrution Project (HAIP). We are in the process of driving camera equipped minivans along every mile of limited access highway in the country. Cool stuff. My trainer for the week, Tomek, was from Poland. Fun guy. Tried to learn some Polish words but that proved impossible. Got to see first hand just how terrible traffic was in this boom town. It was ALWAYS bad. Seemed like it was rush hour 24/7. After a week of training I finally got home Saturday morning (2/11) in time to watch KU beat Iowa State.
