Since I last left off, things have finally slowed down a little bit. For the rest of my birthday, we went across town and climbed a ways up to a castle area to take photos of the sunset, but unfortunately the sun was covered with clouds and didn't make for very good photos, although we got some great ones on the way up. We then went to a more local place on a side road for dinner, where we had weinerschnitzels, i'm not sure how you spell that, but basically breaded meat, our guide called it steak but it definitely was a white meat. Still, very good. Our teacher also bought our table some wine, the house red, which was surprisingly good. Afterwards, half the group headed back while the other half of us stopped for a drink on the way home, as a last hurrah to my birthday.

Yesterday was an easier day. We took a bus over to Valpolicella, on one side of Verona, and took a few photos of some churches and great shots up high, you could see all the way to Lake Garda. They are famous for their red wines over there. I also went around a corner to take some shots of a house, and found a cat with four kittens-one of them ran and hid after the first shot or two, but i got some pretty good ones of the rest of them.

We then turned around and went to the Soave region, on the other side of Verona, where they are famous for their white wines. We wandered through the town a little and stopped for some lunch at a little cafe. Apparently the toilet in this place was a hole in the ground-type, I'm glad I decided to pass. We went back to the Cantina de Soave then, for a tour and wine tasting. The tour was cool to see, and then we went down a lot of hallways with old photos. After that, we headed back upstairs for a wine tasting of three different wines. One white, one red and a dessert wine-all three were very, very good, and I'm not even a wine type of person! Red is not really my thing, though, and it was the strongest of them all. The white was good, and the dessert was sweet but much more my style. I ended up purchasing two white, which were only 6 euro a piece (and they are very high quality) and two dessert (12 euro a piece, but i like them more, so very worth it). I have to figure out how to get them home now! Finding a post office later this week...

We opted for a more chill night last night, and just hung out in one of the girl's rooms. We got some more gelato, at yet another new place, much closer, and walked down by the river on the way back. Today, we have class from 9-12 and then a free day, so we are going to explore down in Verona some more since we are getting pretty familiar with it, and then we are going to do a lot of shopping! Tomorrow, we are going to Venice in the morning, and then we have a train ticket back for whenever we want, which will probably be later in the evening. This weekend, we are taking a trip to Florence. I have a feeling I may have to break out the credit card with all the shopping we'll be doing....

I'll try and update tomorrow since the weekend will be without internet and very hectic! Ciao!
