Eat My Dust!
Driving in Coober Pedy
South Australia Priscilla, Queen of our Hearts
This blog is probably the hardest blog we have had to write. We always knew the closer we got to Sydney the closer we came to selling our beloved Priscilla, Queen of our hearts. This is our dedication to our sturdy steed, who took us places no other could take us.
I @&%!i(MISSING)ng hate these cars I normally charge 500 bucks just to pop the lid, people die in these cars you know. Red Neck mechanic from Bachelor
She wasn't just our 4 wheels (6 wheels if you include the spares), a recon-engine, fading gear box or broken air-conditioning, she was our bedroom, our carriage, our shelter and our friend, she would talk to us, tell us if there was trouble.
“Beep Beep” “What's that Pris, two deaf old dears are drowning on the Great Barrier Reef in their life vests!”
“Beep Beep BEEEEEP” “What's that Pris, why do people in London have 4x4's if the only off road driving they do is park on the pavement!”
“Beep” “What's that Pris, There's a voice that keeps on calling you
Down the road, that's where you're always be.
Every stop you make, you'll make a new friend,
Can't stay for long, just turn around and you're gone again
Maybe tomorrow, you'll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, you'll just keep moving
Still Smiling!
Priscilla Queen of our Hearts on.
Down this road that never seems to end,
Where new adventure lies just around the bend
So if we want to drive you for a while,
Just grab our hats, come travel light, that's hobo style
Maybe tomorrow, we'll find what you call home, Until tomorrow, we know your free!”
That's nice.
Here's the (long) list and there's a lot wrong with her and in my opinion you should get all the work done before you go any further! Mechanic in Perth
Rob was tempted to spray her black and sell her to Madonna! God help our real children!
Laughter was always plentiful but there were also dark times with her squeaking, leaking and sometimes misbehaving, we didn't know where to turn when she was acting like this, we tried talking to her, when that didn't work we shouted even locking her in her room with only $25 of unleaded fuel. Sometimes you bring up a car the best you can, teaching right from wrong and giving her all the things we never had when we were that age but 1 day in the wrong type of garage and it's all forgotten, dam you Ultra Tune with all your flash equipment and cowboy staff!
The Day Had Finally Come
We placed her on the car market, within 10 minutes of the ad going on Hans
Outback Highway
A 1600km Short cut to Perth from Uluru
Northern Territory the happy chappy Dutchman had arranged a viewing for the following day and like us it was love at first sight, an offer was made, we bit his hand clean off at the elbow! We sold her on the same beach we bought her on, for more money than we paid for her 5 months and 22,226kms ago.
We were glad to sell to someone like Hans, just hope Pris holds together long enough for Hans to enjoy everything we did. Once the cash and paperwork had been exchanged it was time for us to have our farewell talk, holding it together at first, reminiscing about our great adventure, the bottom lip starts to wobble then the voice box sounding more like Stan Laurel and making no sense, we turned away and never looked back in fear that we may have made a mistake.
She's a solid car and should run forever, no leaks or no smoke, half the mechanic's in Oz are next to useless, good ones in New Zealand thou! Rego Mechanic in Tweed Heads
We looked at pictures, made a mix tape containing classic songs like “I will Always
love yooooOOOooou” by Whitney
drags out notes Houston and “My Heart will go on” by Celine
why the long face Dion! Unable to believe that someone else will be sleeping in her tonight, we cried each other
Silhouette
Wilpena Pound
South Australia to sleep that night! Everytime we see a Pajero we are filled with mixed emotions, thoughts about the endless road, the endless laughter and finally our endless walk away. Only time will be our saving grace or until we need another vehicle to get us around New Zealand!
We're gonna need to end on a montage!
Every story has to have a montage, it shows a lot happening at once and reminds everyone what's going on! From the moment we all met to the time Pris left us, it's gonna take a montage, from East to South to the Middle of the Red Desert to North to West to East (again!), you took us there in style, it can only be done with a montage! Even Chariots of Fire had a montage!
Cue The Hulk's closing music, picture Kirstin and Rob with their bags walking down the road thumbing a lift. Then............................................................................................Fade to Black!
