Cela fait deja un mois que nous sommes a Chinchero! Le temps passe vraiment vite... Les nuits se font de plus en plus froides et cela fait pres de 10 jours qu´il n´y a pas d´eau chaude a la maison.... mais heureusement il fait plutot beau la journee.
Debut mai est synonyme de jours feries, fetes, debut de recolte de pommes de terre....
Nous avons participe a une fete qui celebre le debut de la recolte de pommes de terre. Les gens de l´association etaient reunis au centro piloto. Nous avons ramasse des pommes de terre puis ils ont construit un four avec les briques d´adobe. Magnifique. Ils ont allume un feu a l´interieur du four pendant une heure puis on mis les pommes de terre a l´interieur. Ils ont ensuite fait tomber toutes les briques sur les pommes de terre et les ont couvertes d´herbes et de terre.
Pendant que les pommes de terre cuisaient, ils sont alles chercher des cochons d´Inde....repas typique.....Devant nous, ils les ont tues, en leur tordant le cou...quelle horreur! Ensuite, ils les trempent dans de l´eau bouillante pour enlever les poils.
Anthony et deux employes sont partis au four communal pour les faire griller.....
Plus tard dans la soiree, nous avons mange les pommes de terre qui etaient delicieuses. Elles avaient un gout special qui les rendaient vraiment excellentes...Les cochons d´Inde n´etaient pas mauvais non plus....
Le lendemain, nous avons fait une randonnee avec Fanny, une volontaire francaise et Claudio, un voisin. Il nous a amenes a la cascade PorPor qui est visiblement peu connue....Le chemin etant peu pratique et assez difficile. C´etait une journee tres sympa...
Nous sommes rentres au village quand il a commence a pleuvoir..une grosse averse et de la grele....
Aujourd´hui nous avons pris quelques photos de la vallee sacree. Il fait un temps magnifique.
Ah et aussi, mon chien prefere Amalous a eu 7 petits il y a quelques jours.... :-) J´ai bien envie d´en ramener un....😉
(Malheureusement, la batterie de mon appareil etait vide et je n´ai pas pu prendre de photos du four et la fete....A cause d´experiences precedentes ou il a perdu ses photos en les mettant sur Internet, Anthony prefere attendre son retour aux US....il faudra donc etre patient pour voir certaines photos.)

We have been in Chinchero for a month already! Time flies! Nights are getting
really cold and we haven´t had any hot water in the house in the last 10 days! Fortunately, days are nice and the sun is shining.
The beginning of May is filled with celebrations, days off, harvest....
We celebrated the first days of the potatoe harvest with members of the association. We gathered in centro piloto and picked potatoes. They built a adobe brick oven. Beautiful. They started a fire and after an hour, put the potatoes inside. They knocked down the bricks onto the potatoes and covered them with herbs and dirt.
While the potatoes were cooking, they got several guinea pigs....which is a typical dish here. In front of us, they killed all of them by breaking their necks. It was horrible. Then, they put them in boiling water to pill the hair off.
Anthony and two guys went off to the communal oven to grill the guinea pigs...
Later in the evening, we all ate the potatoes which tasted fabulous. They had a special taste that made them really delicious. The guinea pigs were not too bad either.
The next day, we went hiking with Fanny, a French volunteer and Claudio, a neighbor. He
took us to PorPor waterfalls which is rarely visited. The trail was pretty hard and no one seemed to had been there in a while. We had a good time.
We walked back to the village when it started to rain a lot with little ice stones falling.
Today, we went take pictures of the Sacred Valley. The weather is really nice.
One last thing....my favorite dog just had 7 puppies a couple of days ago....I really want to bring one back! 😉
(My battery was dead and we took pictures of the party and oven with Anthony´s camera. He has lost pictures before so does not want to put them online until they´re saved on his computer....)

this waterfall sucks! et manger du cochon d'inde... pourquoi pas du hamster tant que vous y êtes...
