Vacation from vacation

Well after taking a tour of Manila yesterday I must admit for someone who usually is a hermit all of this travel is starting to wear me down so after buy some cheap dvd's yesterday I decided to spend today sitting in my hotel room ordering room service, sitting on my netbook, and watching dvd's.

Manila is an amazing city where you can go from advanced and new buildings to poverty the likes I have never seen in one city block. It has been incredibly hot and I haven't taken many pictures as I feel almost rude taking pictures of poverty. It was plus 36 C, and sunny and I saw a strip of homes that were basically one piece of metal in the ground close to a cement wall using what looked like a cross between blankets and tarps as a roof. Just outside the housing clothing hung and there was garden hose that was trickling water into a bucket 4 kids in the area probably 6-10 years old were taking turns filling the bucket on dumping it on themselves to keep cool. I reached for my camera but felt guilty and decided against it, and after that I didn't take any more pictures. One thing I would like to do before I leave the Philippine's is find a local charity that is known for actually making a difference.

But on a lighter topic luckily I have noticed that if I am up at 7am I can stream the audio from the Stanly cup playoffs off nhl.com, I just may end up buying a subscription so I can stream the video of the games too, its going to be an amazing playoffs this year.

Hopefully my next post will be from the beach, in a couple of days.

Be sure to head south in the Visayas
Definitely head south for the beach...Try Bohol. Palawan. Cebu.
