So here's the answer from yesterday's quiz. I ended up landing at 12:30 am on April 1st. Show of hands. How many of you got that right?

So after enjoying being serennaded by the gamelan players (Sophie's school has these instruments) it was onto the pool and deciding that all important question, shade or sun? Umbrella or not? I settled into a chair that had an umbrella nearby. It was really interesting listening to the groups of people around me at the pool. There was a very boisterous group of Italian couples that were enjoying the day. Then there were all sorts of other languages that I didn't recognize.

I walked the beach for a while and remembered how much I love the sound of the waves crashing onto the sand. There's nothing like it and nothing more soothing to me.

So its around 10 am and already its definitely hot AND humid (LeeAnn and Stef you would not like this weather!) I make sure to slather on enough sunscreen to ensure that I don't end up like a lobster on day one. After half an hour I can't hardly stand it because I'm sweating from just sitting on my lounge chair. After a swim in the pool (the water in the pool was like bath water, nice but definitely not exhilirating) its back to the chair.

I'm finding that I'm having all kinds of emotions come up on this trip and being by myself and with my thoughts really forces me to look at these things. Why is it so hard to sit with one's own thoughts? And even harder to acknowledge them and not run away from them? I finished reading Ëat Pray Love while flying over here. What a fabulous author Elizabeth Gilbert is. She's so honest about the difficulties that she has meditating while being in an ashram. If you can't meditate and figure things out there when and where will you? It helps me give myself a break after reading that part. Although it seems like it will take a life time to figure things out. Is that why they call it a journey?? I'm too impatient for that! Ha!

So I decided that I would make it to bikram yoga today. I grabbed a taxi from the hotel and one of the first things we start talking about is yoga and meditation. Wayan (Wayan, for those that read the book, means 1st, as in birth order). practices yoga on a regular basis and we discussed all kinds of stuff on the way to Bikram yoga. It was only when I go to the place did I find out that its WEDNESDAY today and todays class ís at 6 and not at 4 pm. Which lead me to go shopping to kill some time which then lead me to an internet cafe to write these blogs which is then going to lead me back to yoga at 6 pm. I will say that I'm a little afraid of what its going to feel like in class with all the heat and humidity outside. Will I suffocate inside at 105 degrees. Please, let it be a dry heat!

After class its back to the hotel and figuring out what to eat for din-din. My group arrives tomorrow afternoon at some point so tonight's my last night occupying my room by myself.
Tomorrow's another adventure....

You are correct...
LeeAnn and I would NOT be happy with the humidity! Hope you have a blast! Can't wait to read more updates. Stay safe!
