We did have a great nights sleep, woke up late and booked an over-night bus to Chumphon, Thailand, including an early morning ferry boat from there to the island of Koh Tao. With our next travel plans in order, we enjoyed breakfast and a day of shopping in Bangkok, our last stop in this big, unique Thai city. That night, we boarded a night bus. We were seated in the front rows, which I was happy about, because that meant I could hang my legs over the railing in front of me, lean my seat back and have a better than expected nights sleep on a bus. So as I cozied in, the Thai bus drivers said something in Thai and a Thai lady sitting next to Cameron translated for me that I had to take my feet down, because they were hanging over the driver's head and that would bring bad spirits onto the bus. Now for one, I felt so bad! And for two, I was so intrigued! I had read about Thai people's feelings about feet before coming to Asia (your feet cannot face Buddha, you can't use your feet to push doors closed, always take your shoes off before entering an establishment or Thai person's home), but other than taking our shoes off everywhere we go, I hadn't noticed my feet being an issue anywhere. Luckily we had a safe bus ride all the way to Chumphon and my feet did not end up bringing the bad spirits!

We arrived in Chumphon around 5:30am and had an hour and a half to wait until the ferry ride to Koh Tao. We sat there tired and slightly miserable, yet excited for the island life ahead. The ferry to Koh Tao was an hour and a half ride as well and before we knew it we were on our way to Sairee Beach Hut and were taking in all the information on scuba diving and how to get around the island. By that afternoon, Cameron and I were already out for our first round of two-tank dives! It felt so good to be back in the water with dive gear on.
