Nathe Making Mommy's Valentine Gift
Here is Nathanael diligently stringing the beads for mommy's necklace. Zawarsky crystals form the centrepiece of the beading. A labour of love. Every day is
great, even if it's cool and raining or if things don't go exactly as planned. Other than the few nights we had frost during the first week we were here, we have not seen temperatures go below 50 degrees Fahrenheit since. They actually range between 63 to 80 degrees. (Nathanael is keeping a graph of the daily noon-time temperatures as a part of his math studies.) And we have only seen about a half-dozen days with rain. Other than a hurricane, .... anything beats snow, freezing rain, or shovelling. Whenever Nathanael and I hear a weather report from home we just look at each other and smile. We could really get used to this "Southern" living.
Following our trip to St. Augustine, we continued our schedule of homeschooling with varied classes and local daytime activities. Local shopping for groceries and necessities has become difficult because of the unreliable nature of the camper's battery. We have found a portable battery charger at the Home Depot which has helped the situation. It is quite a remarkable little machine which includes an air pump for tires.
Sunday, February 8th was the last day we had our rental car so
A Job Well Done
Nathe is proud of his creation and Mommy is proud of him. Nathanael and I took a drive north to Ormond Beach. On the way back, we stopped at a lovely little bead shop and Nathanael made me a necklace and earings for Valentine's Day. They are made of lovely, pink glass pearls with crystals as the focal point.
Nathanael has been able to attend the local Pioneer meetings and has enjoyed them immensely. Last meeting he built a wooden ship with a small kit. He plans to paint it with mommy's acrylic paints once we get home.
February 13th was the second anniversary of Ron's death. We spent a quiet day homeschooling and in the afternoon we did some yard-work around the church. In the evening we were invited to the home of Joan Coverly, a member at Our Savior's, who offered the use of her shower and washing facilities. We did three loads of laundry and both Nathanael and I had a wonderful warm shower. Joan has three cats and two dogs, all of which Nathanel loved. We spent a late evening with our wonderfully generous hostess and didn't get back to the church parking lot until 1:00 a.m.! Both Joan and I enjoyed each other's conversation but
Pioneers at Our Savior's
The Pioneer Train and Caravan from Our Savior's pose for a picture. These are only some of the children that attend the program here. Beth Dobberstein, LGP District Counselor, has successfully incorporated Pioneers as an outreach tool into the community. both reported being very tired in the morning.
Valentine's Day we spent cleaning the church because no one had signed up to do it that weekend and since we happened to be there it was convenient for us to do so. In any case, it was one way we could say 'thank you' to the congregation for allowing us to park and camp in their lot. We have been blessed by the fellowship found with the members of Our Savior's Church in Port Orange and the friendships we have made here. They are like a family away from home. Like our home congregation, Our Savior's is undergoing a church expansion and renovation that will double the footprint of their worship facilities. This church also runs a preschool program that will be including a Kindergarten next fall. Canadian Christa Priestap, who I have known since she was twelve, is the called school director. Now 25, she is a dedicated church worker and carries out her responsibilities with vigour and dedication. Her energy is amazing.
Stay tuned for our next blog entry when we will fill you in on our visit to the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral.

God is good every day!
Dear Diana and Nathe, What a blessing to read of your safety and how you are enjoying your time at Port Orange's worship facility. Wish we could be with you as this morning the temperature was 21 degrees F when we awoke. It is up to 44 degrees F now so I am off for a walk. Blessings to you both, Lynnette
