It is incredibly hot!!

Had a good and busy week, had the house to myself on Friday night which was great!! Benji went to Kampala for a few days and Santos was being Santos, and disappeared of the face of the earth which left me to get ready for a BBQ that Benji had arranged for 20 or so people at the house. So was dashing around town balencing on a Boda with 10kg of meat which was leaking all over me and 10kg of potatos which were falling out of the bag and rolling down the road behind me. All the Ugandans seemed to have turned their brains off on Saturday (valentines day here is quite a big deal) and the fact that everything came together for the BBQ is a small miracle. It's not like at home, where if someone is being annoyingly slow or useless you have a moan at them, here if you do that then the Ugandans sort of freeze and their brains short circuit - they just can't deal with being told to hurry up so you end up waiting (sometimes for hours) for everything to happen in Africa time.

Eventually Santos turned up and we cooked everything all afternoon in the heat which was unpleasant!! The BBQ was great (everyone loved the food!) and 3 new English volunteers arrived with Benji who are staying with us now. They're still a bit culture shocked and arriving in the middle of a party was a bit much for them!! We all went out once the beer had run out to a bar, then Nash (a friend who works at the bar) arranged for everyone to go to the club in the back of a huge truck - so 40 or so white people crammed into the back of the truck and drove through town.

Enjoying having more people in the house, even though it's cramped. They made me remember how overwhelming it is when you first arrive here and they've asked about 4 million questions which has become a bit tiring!!

Work wise we fell out with the school I was working with so I might start at a different school this afternoon, but you never know here! The orphanage is good and the new volunteers are enjoying themselves.

Planning a trip to Murchison falls this weekend to go to the game park there, hopefully we won't have to cancel it like last time and looks like it should be a great trip!

Can't believe I'm leaving in 2 weeks, like most people here I'm completely in love with Uganda and Jinja has begun to feel like a second home. Excited about Asia and the rest of the trip and meeting up with friends from home but I am jelous of the guys who are here on longer placements and wish I could stay!!
