Just walked down to town in extreme African rain, my theory that no one would be out and therefore I'd be the only one using the internet was correct, also means I can sing along to the fantastic music they play in here - unfortunatley on the walk here I managed to scare most of the population of Jinja with my bright pink pac-a-mac they really did not know what to make of that.

The rain means there's more mosquitos but I've done as the Ugandans do and treated all my clothes with this horrible smelling anti-bug stuff, which is great as I haven't been bitten in weeks. Unfortunately means people don't really want to come near me either but I've learnt to deal with that!

I can't remember if I mentioned but we were planning a big trip west to Queen Elizabeth National Park for 3 nights over the weekend to do a homemade safari, but unfortunately there have been some disturbances in that area so instead the 3 of us stayed in all weekend and slowly drove each other insane. Hopefully we'll make a trip up to Murchison falls and do a game drive there before I leave.

Since we didn't go away it meant we didn't miss the all night church service which takes place about 3 inches from my bedroom. There was a brass band, about 200 people screaming and wailing from midnight until 6 and it was completely impossible to sleep through. Then on Sunday there was a middle of the night service for a few hours where some very angry men shouted a lot and clapped.

Saturday we went to a local resort and swam and shade-bathed all day which was great. A spider bit me on the back and it became big and red very quickly, I thought I was going to die, luckily the Ugandans poored gin on it, which at the time just made me more hysterical but it disappeared very quickly after that. There are 15 or so English gap yearers who were there which made for a great day. We went out in the evening and had a good day, unfortunatley at some point during the day Benji broke a rib and on the way back from the club I got a burn from a boda exhust (motorbike-taxi) so I spent the night sitting fully clothed on the bathroom floor (with the cockroaches) sobbing whilst Benji was unable to move. Luckily Terra was there and was able to locate some fantastic Ugandan burn treatment which was insanely painful at first but has meant it's got better really quickly.

Were going to Kampala a lot for the new orphan and now the orphange has been given the funding for surgery on another kid so they've asked us to take him. Today was pretty tough at the orphange, Alan, the kid who was 'unadopted' by the American family cried a lot and keeps thinking that we'll take him home with us which is hard. Tony (who had surgery the other week) is my new best friend and runs up and chats away for hours in Lugandan telling me all about what he's been doing. Today for some reason the kids were all extra snotty, so I got some tissues clear them all up, they thought it was such great fun to have their noses wiped that they all started some sort of extreme snot convention which was pleasant! Then a kid peed on me so I felt that I'd deserved a shower so went home.

There's an American girl (who thinks she's going to save the world) who's started a scheme of taking the 'best improved' children into town for ice-cream once a week. This has become quite frustrating as it's essentially just rewarding the worst behaved children. So yesterday we took some girls into town and now all the older kids who can understand think that they'll be taken into town as well. It's heartbreaking as they never really leave the orphange and you can see the desperation to go to town.

Not much else has really happened, we're having a big BBQ on Saturday for about 25 people which will be challenging but good and new volunteers are arriving so should mean that me, Benji and Santos don't kill each other before I leave Uganda.
