Bo and Junio (our favorite...). This was the one day the kids cooperated and had fun for the full 2 hours... we did geography
So... my last week in Buenos Aires was very good. Tuesday I had work at the slum I volunteer in, which is in the outskirts of Buenos Aires in La Oculta and it is called Vencedores. I had to take my camera to take a picture of each child for the office, so the kids got really excited and took a ton of pictures... a lot of which I posted so you can see them. Anyways, those are the crazy children I was talking about the last time I wrote... but Tuesday was a MIRACLE. They were so good, and not just for 10 minutes but for the entire 2 and a half hours we spend with them. We organized some activities and games for them... first geography- we had them color in maps of South America to learn the countries and their locations. Then, we split them in to two teams once they had finished with the first activity and played a game where we would point to a country on the map and the team who named it correctly first would receive two caramelos instead of just 1- so we had to bribe them a little bit with the

candy, but they LOVED it. They got so into the game and were cheering each other on, which is quite the change from being rebelious and picking on each other. After that we played another educational game which they actually really enjoyed too- we would choose a letter, and they had to think of a word that started with that letter that fell into the categories of food, animals, and names. Anyways, it went really well and they were really happy. Later that night Chris arrived! On Thursday we had work at Vencedores again- not as many children showed up because the American embassador had been there earlier with another organization giving them some type of lesson, so a lot were tired and went home... But a few came, and this time we had them color maps of all the South American countries and memorize them for next time to play the same game we played for geography. It was a little less organized, but better than the past. That was our last day working there before leaving Buenos Aires, so Bo and I had to say bye to all the kids, which was sad! Friday I spent getting ready

to leave Buenos Aires and go backpacking... running some last minute errands. Friday night we went to La Plata, a small university city south of Argentina to visit Charlotte because she is living there doing an internship working with kids. We met a lot of her friends there- from Argentina (one from Tierra del Fuego, which is the southern most city in the world and a crossing point to go to Ant Arctica), from the US, and two Colombians. We stayed at her homestay house and met her host familys cousins because the host parents left her alone while they went away on vacation. Saturday, we all returned to Buenos Aires together to stay in a hostel in the district of Palermo- I see it as the soho of Buenos Aires - for our last night in Buenos Aires before departing for Misiones. The hostel was a lot of fun- we had an asado for dinner (Argentina form of a bbq). That night we got invited to a party by a friend of ours in Palermo and later found out it was hosted by Cheguevaras nephew... fun fact... they look very similar too! Anyways, Sunday we spent the day around
