Had a good trip back to Jinja, the matatu bus didn't have brakes that functioned that well so instead of breaking when there was a car in front the driver just drove off the side of the road through the trees etc and undertook - so I arrived back a bit of a wreak - plus there had been a bad accident between Jinja and Kampala so everyone here thought I was dead!!

Watched Jinja loose at a rugby match which was nice, felt quiet like being at home! Went to the Bugugali falls camp site and there were some interesting people there (lots of 'extreme' rafters who drink a lot!!) tried Zappa which is the most horrific thing I've drunk in my life and I think I have been poisoned by it permenatley! There was a large group of Israli girls there who are travelling in Africa who were really nice.

Sunday we went fishing on the nile (I was comforted by the fact that apparently there was probably only 1 crocodile in the area) so we went to this lovely resort that's just opened and sat out all afternoon drinking beers - I caught a snail!! Then went night fishing with 2 Ugandan guys and a British guys - was a classic night, involved a 30 min walk down a disused rail line in the dark (naturally I was only wearing flip flops), some security tried to buy me which the guys found amusing. Then hiring a traditional Ugandan fishing boat (they have to be carfully balenced and you cannot move too much once your in it) before paddling out (with the crocodiles) into the nile. The guys got one of the fishermen to come with us to bail water out the boat. When the glow sticks wouldn't work that we were going to throw into the water to attract the fish the guys threw the torches in - great idea! None of us drowned, I got eaten alive by mosquitos and the frogs were so loud we couldn't stop laughing.

Yesterday we had a lot of appointments with various buisnesses promising to support some of the orphanges and schools we work with. Getting used to now getting dressed relativly smartly with the limited selection of clothes I have and making hiking boots some how look smart. Had some sucess in getting some beds for one orphange but unfortunately we're having to start again negotiating with another company who were promising long term food and medical supplies for one of the orphanges. Hopefully we'll get there in the end!!

Work is good, Tony's doing well, we're taking him to Kampala tomorrow to get the stiches out (he has to wear a dress or skirt at the momment and isn't very impresed, they ran out of plain dresses today so he was in a disney princess dress - nice!). We're also trying to help get some medical support for the new girl (who still hasn't been given a name) which is hopefully going to happen soon. Unfortunatley an American couple who adopted 2 of the orphans have brought one back (a boy about 5 years old) so he has been a handful and is understandably very upset, he keeps asking all of the white volunteers who his next Mummy is - (they only had him 3 weeks, I can't believe they gave up so quickly, they've never had an orphan returned before). This morning I sat under a sink with a 4 year old girl who couldn't stop sobbing hysterically (she misses her family who cannot afford to keep her at home but visit regularly) and she refused to come out for an hour or let anyone touch her - was quiet challenging.

Learning a little bit of Lugandan - the most widley spoken language in Jinja and Kampala, but not doing very well. Going to explore the west of the country this weekend for 3 days in the hopes of seeing some animals (the Ugandan's I'm staying with don't believe in paying to get into the parks when they believe we can see all the main animals by hiring a car for the weekend - don't know how sucessful that'll be!)

Just looking at peoples picture of the snow on facebook!! Looks insane!! It's about 30degrees here today but keeps raining at night, but real African rain, we have a water storage 120litre container outside out house which was empty and it rained so hard 2 nights ago that it was filled by the morning!
