Spanish people are WHIMPS when it comes to the weather!!! It was 52 out and pretty breezy on Friday...no big deal, right? People were piling on their winter coats and parents were wrapping their kids up in 80,000 scarves. I swear they thought the end of the world was coming....I find it hilarious.

In order to escape the "winter conditions", Tamara and I went to a mall in Getafe, and I decided that I pretty much love stores in Spain 😊 The style here is way more distinct and the variety of stores is a lot different too.

Even though I've been here for almost a week I must still be stuck on Michigan time or something. Its strange....even if I go to bed at 3 am I don't feel tired in the least when I try to fall asleep, and then I have the hardest time waking up in the morning. Today I slept in past 1 in the afternoon! And I probably would've slept in longer if Tamara hadn't come in to check on me. So I've decided I'm going to bed early tonight to get myself on a normal sleeping schedule!

Yesterday turned out to be a very interesting day....after I finally woke up and got ready, I went out for lunch with Tamara and her family, and we ate at some strange cafe in Madrid. Everything was good until they came out with the last course...it was some sort of rice pasta thing covered in seafood. The server brought it out, and it was this huge dish with lobster, mussels, and a ton of different types of fish....and nothing was cooked or anything, I felt like I was looking at a tank full of dead sea creatures...which wasn't so bad until Tamara's grandpa started to pile pieces of it onto the plate in front of me. Disgusting! I thought I might lose my lunch right there...I hate seafood with a passion!

After that, I went out with Tamara and a few of her friends. I borrowed clothes from her and felt like a true Spaniard...haha. Then her grandparents picked us up and dropped us off somewhere downtown. I have no idea where we were, but it was definitely the ghetto part of Madrid or something....there were a bunch of really narrow stores on every street run by Chinese people that sold pretty much a little bit of everything for cheap, and all the stores were kind of shady. Nightlife is definitely different in Spain...all the pubs are insanely busy, and people that aren't old enough to go inside just stand out in the streets or nearby parks in large groups and drink. There's a ton of traffic and the underground metros are packed...police patrol the area but they don't really do anything but drive around aimlessly. Needless to say, it was a very interesting night, and going home to sleep at the end of the night was a major relief.

I never really believed people when they told me how quickly you adapt to a new language and it starts to take over, but I am definitely starting to see it now. I haven't even been here for a full week, but it seems like the whole hearing Spanish 24/7 thing and not speaking English at all takes it toll quickly....its not like I'm forgetting how to speak English or anything, I just find myself thinking in Spanish all the time now and picking up on common Spanish phrases as I forget the English ones I would normally use...I don't really know how to describe it, but its really weird!

**For some reason this entry got moved, and an old one ended up before it, because it seems to think that entry was newer....sorry if it causes any confusion!

Scheriouslys? It was like -20 out a few nights ago and then like -2ish during the day. If it was like 50ish up here right now I would be wearing shorts.
