We caught the sleeper train to Udaipur from Ahmedabad (Sleeper class- No AC or bedding). We got on the train around 10:30pm and had no lights so we had to use a torch to find our seats and make our beds with our own sheets (towels and newly bought shawls). We slept along side an Indian family, granddad and the kids. When we arrived just after sunrise at 7:30am the next day we already knew to go straight to the pre paid rickshaw stand or be heavily ripped off. We were heaps lucky to get a guy by the name of Jamil, he said " welcome to my helicopter are you ready to fly". He took us straight to the hotel we wanted and on the way told us all about the sights we were driving past, his English was good and his sense of humour was even better.
We booked into a hotel that is like a palace. It has a restaurant on the roof, central court yard art gallery stained glass windows and hand painted trim around everything. Although tempted by the princess bed we headed of for breakfast on a roof top over looking the city
