In the afternoon we headed off to book a sleeper train out of town and decided to try to get to the nearest wetland bird sanctuary. We walked over tho the nearest taxi stand and guys ran from everywhere to discuss our trip. After a lengthy discussion they told us it was over 100 kilometres away. At this point we pointed to the brochure where it says just 25 km from Ahmedabad and they went back into rushed discussion before agreeing that we were quite correct. Feeling confident we were on the same page we agreed on a round trip price and set off. Unfortunately our drivers confidence waned as we got out of the city and he got increasingly concerned that we may be lost eventually we turned around at a small village and back tracked before turning down a tiny dirt road to the sanctuary. Although it took nearly 40 mins longer than predicted to get there it was well worth it there was a massive wetland/lake filled wiht all sorts of water birds. Spectacular!!
Pictures to come later
