En route to Salinas Grandes!

A huge altiplano (plateau) in the middle of the Andes, part of which used to be an ocean has now become what they call Salinas Grandes. It is a vastness of salt - until the eye can see. To get there we had to climb again. This time we came up to 4170m above the see level. Pure air, salt, lamas & donkeys - that is all one can see here!

Salt is still extracted at the salina. It's other purpose is to be the stage for silly photos tourists make. 😊 Although it was kind of fun doing these...

This was just a great place to visit. Certainly unique. To think we're so high, over 4000m of altitude, on such a vast plain, and on meters of salt layers!!

In the last three days we have seen so many different aspects of Andes, and there is still so much to see one could stay only here for a month! But we need to move on south to Patagonia. We'll catch up with you from down there.

Lieve Jan Willem en Tajana, Jullie bericht goed over gekomen! En wat een prachtige fotos,m heel groots en wat een klim van ruim 4000 m! Nog heel veel plezier bij mountainbiken wildlife en excursies, geniet ervan! Momenteel is het hier veel wind en natte sneeuw, dus jullie beelden geven ons wat warmte! Vanavond passen we op Lotte, want Loes en Marc moeten in Drachten naar een feestje, dinsdag is loes hier ook met Lotte geweest, ze draaft de hele kamer door en onderzoekt alles! Loes en ik hebben gewinkeld met resultaat! Heel veel groetjes en liefs pama

Hi daar, wat een leuke verhalen en leuke foto's! Ben nu alweer benieuwd naar de nieuwe verhalen. Hier alles goed. Lotte loopt nu erg goed. Tot over een paar weken. X Marc, Loes en Lotte
