Sorry guys, I have been very lame at keeping up to date with my blog, we've been struggling to find decent internet access.....anyhoo.....!!! Last day in Hue, we chilled out and had a wander round the shops amd visited the Citadel which was quite interesting but very touristy!!! So, we left Hue and headed off to Hanoi on yet another overnight sleeper bus, Jess got a ittle stir crazy as you will see from the photos!!! Arrived in Hanoi at 6 am and checked into a really great hostel called Little Hanoi. It was the usual good quality, but what made it better was that the staff were really helpful, and made our stay there really great. Our initial plan was to base ourselves in Hanoi and visit various places from there, but on our first morning we got chatting to a swedish girl, who had just got back from a disasterous trip to Sapa, so we decided to change our plan and just spent 2 nights in Hanoi. There was not a great deal to see or do in Hanoi itself, we visited the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh, which was really weird..... All very solemn and shrouded in security and mystery!!!We all had to line up in single file, and walk round the mausoleum, and nobody was allowed to speak....which of course meant that Jess and I have to stifle a fit of giggles!!!! We visited a few markets, and did some shopping, gitfts for all!!! Then we went on a 2 day trip to beautiful Halong bay, which was a real highlight for us. Spent the first day kayaking and swimming in the sea, and visiting one of the beautiful caves. The food was awesome and plentiful, fresh seafood!!!! Met some lovely people, and also a weird canadian guy who we suspected was taking close up photos of us when we were sunbathing on deck....PERV!!!! Spent the night on the boat, an old style 'junk' which was brilliant, and headed back to Hanoi the next day. Spent saturday night in hanoi, and went to a charity benefit night, organised by a couple of people we met in a bar, one whom was performimg at the charity do. I t was a very random night, belly dancers, salsa dancers, kung fu demo, a drumming group and a live singer!!!!! Good night had by all!!!
