We had a relaxing day (pattern emerging here) of just walking around Vienna taking in the sights. We visited the Kunst Haus Wiens where they had a permanent Huntertwasser exhibition showcasing his art and some architectural models. This guy is big in Vienna - like a national hero to the environmentally-friendly of Vienna. The front of the Kunst Haus building is similar to the Kawakawa toilets he commissioned in his adopted New Zealand, so, you folks back home have not really missed anything and saved yourselves 9 euros. They must have the most expensive posters I have ever come across in a gift shop - 43 euros each!

We went to see 'Die Fliedermaus' at the Vienna State Opera for our final night and had a most enjoyable and interesting night. The 'interesting' bit came from a chance meeting we had with a remarkable woman called Sigrid. Sigrid rescued us from the box office, saved us standing spaces and helped us manouvre the complex waters of the operahouse coat checking system. She also had the most interesting anecdotes, having been coming to the VSO and getting the same standing space for the last 20 years or so and knew all the other opera-philes (whatever you call them) who have also been faithfully going to the opera for years. Amongst them was a 92 year old man who has been coming for the last 71 years. How wonderful is that!
