Hola chicos y chicas…
We are off to Punta del Este as in “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.” If it were not for a little stop on the way I would have skipped this little excursion. Shopping and sand are not my strong suits and looking at the mansions of very rich people just depresses me. They got and I not. But I did mention the little stop and that was at Casapueblo inspired by Carlo Paez Vilaro. Remember the restaurant we ate at a couple days ago in Colonia? Well the more famous relative hangs out here and we actually caught a glimpse of the guy. Watched an impressive movie of his life story and walked around the place for a couple hours. Even made a purchase or two. If you are interested check out http://www.carlospaezvilaro.com.uy/casapueblo.swf to see what this guy is up to. After wandering around the Punta scene for the rest of the day we get the thrill of a life time watching a front moving in over the water. I can die a happy man now. Back to the Montevideo hotel in time for another forgettable dinner.

The next morn we are heading back to Colonia to do some last minute shopping and catch the ferry back home. That is if we ever get out of Montevideo. The bus was supposed to leave at 8:30. I hope all of you are more considerate when you travel with a group. Some of us like to stay out all night drinking and then oversleep. Meanwhile those of us who would like to sleep that extra half hour are waiting... The down side to traveling with students. But I suppose with an Elder Hostel group somebody would forget their teeth.

Apparently the cheese in Colonia rivals that of Wisconsin so we grab a cow or two and buy a couple rounds. With wine as cheap as it is I just can’t figure why the cheese and crackers aren’t in the same economic boat.
Speaking of boats ours is leaving and fortunately I didn’t lose my little piece of nondescript paper they gave me when I arrived. That is your visa and if you toss it as some did it will cost you 25 American bucks. So save all those scraps of paper you got around the house…who knows what St Peter is gonna want for a visa on your big boat ride to the sky.

Home at last and Kazuko cooked up a great unforgettable dinner. Life is good.

Hi,
Yo Danny. It certainly looks as if you both are having a splendid time upside down in Argentina. Your bulletins are enormously geographical, I'm sure you'll get an "A" on this course! You missed two great days of rain last weekend so the fire danger is all over for this year. I came top in east-west last week. Have you checked out the BA bridge scene? Enjoy our beautiful world. Mike
