Bariloche & The Lake District

Arriving in Bariloche was a welcome relief after our longest bus journey yet! Wouldn't have been too bad if the firstleg had been at night time...11 hours of sitting on a bus with NOTHING to look is almost unbearable! The first 3 photos show what we were looking at for HOURS!! The sunset however was pretty incredible and almost made up for it!

After getting on our second bus into the night we woke up to a magnificant sunrise over the alpine forests and arrived in Bariloche at around 10am, hoping to use it as a base for a week or so. In short we had a great time. The hostel was fantastic and we felt really at home, chomping into fresh danish pastrys every morning and playing cards with fellow travellers in the evenings as well as venturing to the local pub and suprising ourselves by making it to 4am!

The town itself is really lovely, right on a huge lake surrounding by alpine forests, with swiss style buildings mostly selling chocolate... no wonder we stayed for 6 days...

Although it was freezing cold (we got a bad week for weather apparently) we still managed to prove ourselves as hardcore hikers heading out eachday to the surrounding countryside to enjoy the lake side views and eat our picnic in the rain, for some reason it feels ok to do it out here!

Our final day before bidding farewell to our hostel hosts we headed out to Villa Angostura, a tiny village in the nearby National Park. Not much to write about it except it was really pretty...

It now starting to dawn on us that our time in Argentina is almost over. Mendoza is our last stop before we head over the Andes for one last time into Chile to catch our flight to New Zealand.

We will be sad to leave, but we still have the wine country to come so won't dwell just yet.....
