So we have just finished a 3 day stint in Siahnoukville (excuse if i have spelt it wrong!) for some chilling out on the beach. Mara started off by warning us not to go anywhere in groups smaller than 4! a teeny bit worrying but we just went along with it. Our first day we arrived and headed straight for the beach, beautiful stretch of sandy beach and sea like a lukewarm bath-perfectly refreshing after an early start!! The only downside to this particular area is the amount of children and ladies trying to sell you things. millions of bracelets, manicures, sunglasses (even though you are clearly wearing some they still assure you you need some!!) Some of the smaller children are ok, we were talking to a couple about school and teaching them words and they were showing us their school books etc which was quite interesting, they all speak fantastic english!
The hotel was really nice and had little reception areas so a few of us gathered together to teach the ozzies some english drinking games- suprising how nice $3 vodka and $4 rum tasted!! one of the girls got ridiculously drunk though so we have ribbed her a bit since!!
Day 2 was a perfect lie in, and then a lazy afternoon on a slightly less crowded part of the beach and not many kids selling stuff, then we went back to the beach for a nice meal in the sand by candlelight.. all very chilled out!! I tired fish-which will be a huge deal to those of you who know how long i have avoided it for!!
day 3 was meant to be a day on a boat around islands snorkelling etc but the water was too choppy so we had to bail on that idea, we ended up hiring out the local cinema and watching the killing fields as that was next on our itinerary. the cinema wasn't what you might think= a room full of rattan chairs and sofas with huge cushions and blankets, air con and a help yourself refreshment fridge!! there was a balcony at the back with little beds to lie on and watch-definately a cool experience!!
one of the random highlights- the roundabout cow.. a cow that just sits in the middle of a really busy roundabout...brave in cambodia traffic believe me!!
Just a little note: Rachel- you're mum is ALWAYS right about the toilet paper-tell her from me!!
Mum: the 'gay' sandals are invaluable!!
Laura: congrats on the 2:1!!! geek!! (now get a job!!) (we can't get on facebook at the moment so had to comment on here instead!)

Beds in a cinema....
Sounds a bit dodgy... There's one of those cinemas in Bilston apparently.
