Greetings from the infamous Amsterdam! We have just spent three days and nights here and it has been fantastic! We arrived in the early afternoon and made it to our hostel, the Flying Pig Uptown, on the tram with no problems! The hostel was a crazy place to stay... it had a reputation as a real party hostel and we werent disappointed. In the basement was a big fun bar that had good drink specials and an awesome crowd. The downside to all the revelry was the washrooms were disgusting and it was hard to get any sleep haha!

On our first afternoon in Amsterdam we set out to explore the city on foot. We walked through the Red Light District in the daylight, which seemed to be when the less attractive ladies were working, and then decided to see where the Anne Frank house museum was so we could visit it the next day. To our surprise there was no line when we arrived so we went right in. The museum was very well done, and quite a powerful experience. That night we made friends with a bunch of people from our hostel and hung out with them and viewed the infamous district at night.

The second day in Amsterdam we boogied over to the Rijksmuseum after roaming the Vondel Park. The Rijksmuseum made for an impressive photo op, but seeing as there was a huge line and neither of us really cares about art we opted to spend the day on the canals. For a couple of euros we were able to rent a paddle boat and cruise the waterways without being run over by the all the bikes. The paddle boats were sooooo fun! Teijas steering skillz were excellent! That night we went out to a club. The music was terrible, the tunes can be best described as a mix between techno-salsa-and a cat getting strangled. But all in all it was pretty fun night.

We woke up then next morning because these three inconsiderate Spanish swines decided to talk on their cell phones and to each other at 8am in a bedroom they were sharing with 11 other people. Nice. To clear our heads, we took another walk around the Vondelpark, which is stunning and very well used by the citizens of Amsterdam. We ate lunch at a cute hot dog stand in the middle of the park. After that we decided to rent bikes since the city is known for being a great city to cycle around. We rented them for three hours and in that time we looped the park, the downtown core, and went all the way out to the Amstel canal, weaving through tiny streets clogged with pedestrians, bikes, trams and even horses. It was ridiculously fun and we managed to avoid hitting anything.

Alright so being in Amsterdam some crazy stuff is bound to happen which got us thinking about the dumb stuff that has occurred to us already. That being said I give to you the gag reel part une.

Number 1) Teija getting crapped on by a bird in Vondel Park.
Number 2) Three men each weighing a metric ton attempting to get pulled by a bike taxi. Poor taxi driver.
Number 3) A little kid bailing off a bike in Vondel Park, getting stuck under the bike and after finally getting free, falling again. Funny for us, but his dad was disappointed in his sons bike skills and made him walk the rest of the way.
Number 4) TJ walking on cobblestone. (many near bails!)

PS. Also, there have been MANY heron sightings!

Cobblestones will get you every time! Teija, was it a heron that crapped on you by chance?

Hey Pete, it fortunately wasn't a heron that did it.... it was a PARROT! seriously, there were green parrots flying all around that park!
