We left Royal Orchid Resort at 10am this morning. Much to the sadness of the staff and our dog, who followed us right to the bitter end. We said our good buys and jumped into the back of the pick up truck, the dog just sat there crying. A very sad morning as we had grown very fond of her especially Linda who couldn't help but shed a tear as we left.
The ferry left for Kho Samui at 11am. The weather was getting worse and worse as we sat under cover waiting for the ferry which was 40min late. The boat finally arrived, with the rain now coming down and the waves beating against the pier, we knew this was going to be a rough ride! Pretty much spot on. We managed to get a seat right in front so we had some leg space. There was a Australian girl on the right who just stared at the floor the whole way while turning a lighter shade of white. To the right was a couple, I think from Israel. He on the other hand was not doing so good. His girlfriend asked if we had a packet, so I diged in my bag and found the plastic that toilet rolls get wrapped in. Better than nothing, he grabbed it and threw up. The rest of the trip, he was passed out. The sea was on its head and the boat was rocking to and fro.
Luck for us we made it to the other side, 1 hour later!
We got a taxi with some other people, no idea where we were going to stay, we found and took the first place people jumped off. The place is called Free House Bungalows. The bungalows are not to bad, no sea view like the other places, as space is prime here, so the pub and laying around area are on the beach and the bungalows are behind. Linda is pretty happy as she has hot water for the first time since leaving Frankfurt.
The weather here is a bit better than Kho Phangan. Overcast, but not as much wind and the sea is calmer and nice beach with sea sand. Linda is out there trying to suck up the sun again... Why? We have 7 months of being in the sun! Me, I am out the water for a few days as I cut both my feet on coral while snorkeling on coral and it got a bit infected, so need to keep it dry! Sux!
One last thing, you have never seen so many dogs in your life, they are everywhere and are ever so friendly. Linda has found a new one but I have warned not to get to emotionally attached, as I don't want a repeat of the goodbye we had with our last dog!
