the Oblisk

This monument is in the meridian of 9 de Julio, the "worlds largest street" or so they say. The Oblisk was inaugurated in 1936 and to this day it continues to be ridiculed and criticized and a group is campaigning to take it down.

This is the all you can eat restaurant in Puerto Madera on the water. We came at noon and stayed utnil about 2:15. Carlos got his fill of meat and was a very happy boy when we left.

The menu

The menu is 1 option: all-you-can-eat. It includes: 1 liter of a drink (soda, beer), unlimited trips to salad bar and bbq with meat, and a dessert at the end. 43 pesos is about $14. I'm not a big meat person but here....wow!
The cranesThe cranes
The cranes

The cranes are left over from when Puerto Madera was an active part of the port. Since then, this area has been renovated and become very similiar to the Pearl: restaurants and shops. They left the cranes as an artistic piece.

This ship is named after their president and was built in 1897 and sailed 37 times around the world. After, it was used a teaching vessel and was retired from service last year. Beautiful boat!

Carlos always jokes that women can't drive, Imagine me behind the wheel of a big ship? Just think of all the damage I could do.

The ship is now a floating museum with artifacts and things from its trips around the world. This is a giant wrench...can you see my hand on the right? Big, big wrench.

La Casa Rosada, is the executive center of Argentinian government. A nice, pink building....my favorite color! NOT. We have the White House and they have the Pink House

This was the church in the neighborhood of our apartment. Like all of them, it has beautiful architecture but was run down. There doesnt seem to be a lot of extra money to donate or concentrate on church restoration.

One of our stops on the trip was the BA zoo. Here is a photo of mini crocodiles. They were about 6-8 inches long....cute and scary at the same time.

In the zoo, there are these rodants running around, free, everywhere. You can buy food and feed them. I didnt get close. They look like a cross between a beaver, with rabbit legs
