Gothic indeed !
Most of you might already know that to get to Europe takes many long, boring hours sitting in a shiney aliminium tube, 30,000 feet above terra firma. But isn't it worth it !!
We landed in Malpensa airport ar 6:30 am Italy time, and grabbed a bus to Statione Centrale in Milan and dragged our wheely bags a couple of blocks to our hotel. They let us check in at 9:00 ! We were showered, shaved & shampooed and on the pavement by 10:00. Watch out Milano, we're here.
We wandered the streets for a couple of hours to get our bearings before we headed down to the old centre of town where we were to meet our 1/2 day city sights tour.
We visited Milan Duomo which is the most fantastic gothic cathedral. We wandered thru the Galleria, the Opera House, and had a driving tour circumnavigating the old city. We finished with a veiwing of the Last Supper by Michaelangelo next door to the Della Basilica Di Santa Maria Delle Grazie. We also toured the Castello Sforzesco, which is the original fortress that guarded the original city of Milan which we had also visited on our earlier wanderings in

the morning.
We made it back to our hotel after 7:00 pm and had a couple of beers with our friend Dennis who had arrived from Paris earlier in the afternoon. We all ate at a local Italian risterante around the corner (it was full of local people, but was run by Chinese ???) It was good food and good value. By 10.30pm we were well and truly worn out, afterall we did hit the ground running with very little sleep, so we hit the hay, full of anticipation for our train trip to Levanto today

Bonjourno!
Hi hi! So glad you've arrived safely and are enjoying the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of Italy! You must need to re-add me to your email list, because I only found your blog by coming to the site and searching for it. I got no email notification :( Did you get my sms the other day? In case you didn't... Leigh Mathews has quit as the coach of the Brisbane Lions and Michael Voss has been contracted to take his place. Oh, and the Bronco's won on the weekend. So, that gets you back up to date with the sports news at home. Continue to have a wonderful time and keep up the blogs. Love you both, Sare xx
