Baa!!Baa!!Baa!!

Not your usual looking shop assistant!!!

Days 31, 32 and 33

We were picked up early in La Paz and headed for the Peruvian border. The trip took about 10 hours including a boat ride over a lake that was in our path! We stopped on the shore of lake Titicaca at a place called Copacabana for lunch. We arrived in Puno and had a mooch arround and bought some wooly hats as it was getting cold in the evenings. One of the shops had a baby lama in it. At first we thought it was a toy, but as it got up and pee´d in a pot we realised not only was it real but house trained too!!

We were picked up at 7:30 by "limo´s" which turned out to be bicycle powered taxi´s. They took us to a port on Lake Titicaca where we bought some goods before boarding a boat. The first stop was a floating reed island, which the inhabitants built themselves and move around according to the depth of the lake. We were then taken by hand made reed boat to another reed island before we were pick up by our normal boat. We were then taken to aother island - amantani where we were introduced to our local host family - a cute little lady called Philomena. We went with her to her home and were taken to our room. She cooked us lunch, then we met up with our fellow travellers. After a game of football (the locals v the rest of the world) - where Stuart scored the winning goal - we went for a hike up to the top of the mountain. We then had dinner, which we ate with the family in their little kitchen, and got ready for fiesta time. We were given costumes of the local dress and danced the night away to the sound of panpipes and drums!! It was really fun and everyone got well into it!

The next day we went to another island - Tequile - for another hike up the mountain. We arrived back in Puno in the afternoon and slept!! We then had a big night out at a really cool restaurant where we were entertained by a local band, playing exclusively for our gang. Stuart ate guinea pig which still had it´s head on and it´s eye balls in. Carly was digusted especially when you could see it's little feet sticking out!! We then partied the night away at the Rock Bar!!! Rock on!!!!
