*Quick note: No one was responding to my blog entries, so Jack bet me that he could write absolutely anything and get more comments on it than mine. It worked. Garth Brooks lyrics was all it took. Good job, Jack.

We traveled down from Taupo, spent the night in our van in Turangi, then at precisely 7:08am Jack came running back to the van shouting "Lindsay! GET UP. We have to go NOW." He found out that the ski fields were open. We made it down to check in at our lodge, rented some gear, and went straight up to the Whakapapa Ski Field. We were on the slopes all day, stopping only once for a quick lunch and a 500 person snowball fight. The view was incredible all morning, and the whole afternoon was skiing through thick clouds, wind, and snow. I have never experienced anything like it. Of course it didn't beat Whistler, but Jack had a great time, too. I would come around a corner and look around. Jack was nowhere to be found. Then I would notice some huge cliff off to the side, look up to the top, and... oh yeah, there he is. Jack is crazy.

So, today the ski fields are closed due to blizzard conditions. I think we are going to drive back up to Taupo for the day, grab our bathing suits from the motor camp in Turangi (we left them on accident because we left to get to the ski fields in such a hurry), and come back to the lodge for movies and the hot tub. Can't complain.

We are having trouble getting our pictures posted from the ski trip. I promise we will get them up as soon as we can. In the meantime, enjoy this pig. He was at least the size of a small VW.
