Cheap, fast, and oh so yummy
Dan and I arrived in Hong Kong on Tuesday safe and sound. If you have to spend over 15 hours on an airplane, you could definitely do worse than Cathay. We tried so hard to stay awake after arriving in Hong Kong and even ventured out to buy buns but by seven o'clock we were fast asleep! Over the next two days we walked around in the 34 degree heat visiting Hong Kong Park, Victoria Peak, the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery, Ma MoTemple all the while experiencing the famous Star Ferry and Hong Kong trams. We were both amazed and impressed by the public transit system here. The trains are fast, cheap and they go absolutely everywhere! Further, moving between trains, ferries, trams, and buses is easy with a pre-paid Octopus card which is scanned at the end of every trip and the appropriate amount automatically deducted.
We finished both evenings by eating on the street in the Temple Street night market.
