My hotel....it was -10 degrees when i took this photo....
I love the international dateline. It is the closest thing to time travel that i will ever know.

Left Tamworth a few hours late courtesy of Qantas. Sometimes you think it will be the BIG things that will trip you up but i almost didn't make it off the ground at the first hurdle. Apparently being on an international flight isn't any kind of priority giving reason - a Qantas connecting flight to Melbourne (of which they are 50 a day) is of greater import. It worked out and i managed not to be stressed. But there was one moment where i had visions of spending the whole summer in Tamworth (not a bad thing in itself but it is not exactly Christmas in England or hanging out in Cincinnati)

But therein lay the story of the rest of my flights. Though overall my flights were all fine - no screaming babies and quite nice people either side of me. I was a bit over having to climb over people to get to the aisle but that is nothing new.

I made all of them with about 5-10 minutes to spare before boarding.....which was actually a pretty

Me and my three imaginary friends...
good feat considering that in LA and Dallas i had to change terminals. So no waiting around but i guess it was all cutting it fairly fine!

I was able to have a clear view of the landscape all the way from LA to Dallas as there was no cloud and the landscape was really flat. It was like looking at crop circles. There were these amazing patterns made by the cropping. I have been told since that this relates to the type of irrigation used that is a system anchoring in the centre of the paddock. I didn't have my camera with me so no photos sorry.

My luggage arrived intact....albeit that i didn't know where my pack was for 3 hours. American Eagle lost it between Dallas and Waco (apparently not an uncommon phenomena). It came on the next flight and they delivered it to my hotel so no harm done. Though i was a bit concerned initially. I was worried i wouldn't have any clothes for the meetings i had on Monday morning.

So me and my three imaginary friends are in a hotel room with two large Queen beds!

The airport also gave me an indication of the quality of people here in Waco. An older coupl also on my flight who had also lost luggage offered to drop me off at the hotel instead of me taking a taxi because it was 8pm. It turned out that the wife, Susan, did her masters in English at Baylor and her husband was a County Court Judge and teaches at the Baylor Law School. They pointed out a number of local landmarks. They were really nice! Even told me to contact them should i decide to come to Baylor. The thing about this place is that it seems people are really genuine when they say that here.....

Tomorrow ..... I meet Baylor.

Bon Voyage!
Hey Anna, I was starting to wonder whether you'd dropped off the face of the earth - it looks like I wasn't too far from the truth! Meanwhile, I've done my own bit of travel - from Florey, ACT to O'Connor, ACT (permanently). The distance is trivial, but it has still taken me about a week to sort out fully. I think I am carrying more stuff than you, but perhaps I could be wrong :-) God Bless Tim
