Bonsai and a Spanish Steve Irwin

Back in June, Mario and I were flown to the south of Spain, Seville, for his first bonsai workshop. Our friend and organisor of the bonsai workshop, Sankofa, picked us up from the airport around midnight. The temperature was around 32 degrees celcius! Very hot!

The bonsai workshop was held in the cafeteria of a zoo! The were also a lot of bonsai at the zoo. One day the guy in charge of the zoo showed us around his second home. He touched the animals without any fear, even the puma and dingoes, and spoke to them as if they were humans. Apparently many of the animals were ex circus and animal actors! One morning Mario took a walk with Gina the cheeky chimpanzee. The owner said that I had to stay away because Gina loves girls and would leave Mario and rush over to me, maybe even jumping. My turn with an animal came, everyone insisted that I have a photo with the tiger! I barely agreed and was pretty much pushed into its cage! Before walking in we watched the owner walk right into the tigers’ cage, the tiger walking around freely. He put a leash on the tiger, not before stroking it and cuddling up to its face! Some of the braver bonsai students went in for a photo first, and when they came out alive I dared myself to go in. When can you take a photo this close to a tiger without it being on any kind of drugs? So I went in, edged my way close to the tiger for a few quick photos, then hurriedly exited the tigers cage, shaking and almost in tears I was so scared!
