Angkor WatAngkor WatAngkor Wat

The largest religious building on earth. Almost a thousand years old, and larger than the picture can capture.
Ah, Angkor. Angkor is one of if not the most impressive ruins on the earth. Build nearly a thousand years ago by an extinct civilization, it is a massive city that was abandoned in the 1400's. The ruins were 'discovered' by a french archeologist in 1860. One of the temples in Angkor, Angkor Wat, is the largest religous building on earth. The massive spires built of rock are almost two hundred feet high, and a thousand years old. Keep in mind at the time of the cities golden era in 1200 A.D., it had a population of over a million people, while London had only 50,000. There are not enough words to describe in immense grandeur and beauty of the site. One of the most beautiful and amazing sights I have ever seen.

We road bikes the whole day to see the temples. We ended up riding around 20 miles.

This was the only temple they let the jungle remain. The growth of trees had destroyed portions of the other temples.
