The church bells were ringing, the mariachis singing and children were pushed up against the gates to see the bride and groom. Yes, we saw a Mexican Wedding. The HUGE wedding party was coming out of the San Miguel landmark church La Parroquia for all the world to see. Everyone looked so happy, but the bride seemed to be annoyed at being told what to do by her mother.
Saturday was the first day that I felt well enough to go out for longer than a couple hours into the world. My illness had disappeared finally, even though my stomach was a bit sensitive right after eating. So on Saturday, Eleanor invited us to join her and her friend, Judy, to go to a crafts fair at Instituto Allende. The fair was wonderful but very crowded. There were many people selling jewelry, clothes, rugs, pretty much everything you could think of. I finally found a bag to carry around my shoulder. (In my mad rush of moving and leaving the states, I ended up not having a purse to use at all!) I also considered buying a skirt but then I have been looking at money differently. I could buy
a skirt or have the money to buy a bit more food to last me an extra week here at the end of our trip to extend our time. See what I mean? I will get a skirt eventually when we have some more money coming in...but not right now! We are save save saving!
After the market, Judy had a place to try where the comida was only 50 pesos. (about $5.00) Ronnie was a bit nervous for me and my tummy but I just thought if Eleanor and Judy were okay with it, then I would be. We came to a tiny 4 table place where the waiter wore a barret and tried his hardest to speak English. Lunch included a salad, choice of soup, then for the main course Ronnie and Judy had chicken mole while Eleanor and I had bass roasted in tin foil and cooked perfectly. It also came with yummy rice, juice, a lovely piece of cake and the best coffee we have had since being here. It was amazing!! A bit of a hike away from town but very yummy.
After, Ronnie and I parted ways with the ladies and headed

with my new bag and lemon ice. to the Jardin. We saw a bride and groom pass by in a horse-drawn carriage. We would later see them coming out from their services. We went to an outside cafe where Ronnie had a beer and I had some lemon ice. We watched the wedding a bit, then headed home. Eleanor was outside and so we offered to have a happy hour all together. She agreed and as usual, we stayed out for hours drinking (I had coke) and sharing stories. We finally made it inside for dinner where I cooked us up two rib eye steaks. (Very cheap here.)
Yesterday, Eleanor and I went on the House and Garden Tour. This event collects money for kids to go to college. Basically 3 people open up their houses for everyone on the tour to see and believe me...they were AMAZING! 2 of them were for sale but for like 1.5 million dollars!! It was a lot of fun to hop on a bus and to go walk through someone's beautiful house. Afterwards, Eleanor and I went to lunch at a place called Hecho En Mexico and had great big lunch salads! Nice and refreshing! Then on to MEGA
to see what the latest sales were (tequila was!) and then back home. Ronnie and I went up to our roof to watch the sunset and to see the lightening storms in the distance. We were only going to go up for a few minutes but stayed up there an hour!
Today was my first day of Spanish School. I am attending a great place where I have already learned so much in one day...and what's this? I have homework again! EEEK!
Tomorrow is the famous traveling market. I was too sick to attend last week so I am very excited to see what it is all about. To think...a traveling market! Feels like Indiana Jones or something. Perhaps I will find a relic for 10 pesos.
Check it out! I can now add movies to my blogs. For this entry I have the songs of the Mexican Wedding and the sounds of the night at our casita and the distant storm.
