Hi everyone,

Jenna and I have arrived in South Korea. The trip was brutal we flew to San Francisco first and then took a twelve hour flight to Seoul. Once we arrived at the airport there was a guy to pick us up and he informed us that our apartment was about an hour and a half away from the airport. Our apartment is better than what we originally thought, but it is still a one bedroom studio. It has very modern appliances and furniture with a great view of the city. We live across the street from the subway, so we can travel across the country for relatively cheap. Our school is only about a 4 minute walk from our apartment, which makes it nice to go home during our lunch break.
We have now been here for about two weeks and it is not too bad; the teachers seem pretty cool and South Korea really isn’t a bad place to live. We live in a suburb of Seoul call Bundang, and to anyone which we told the name of this city we totally pronounced it wrong it’s like Boon-dong with an Asian accent. It really doesn’t

feel like the suburbs considering the town is bigger than Denver. Anyways, it is pretty cool, the city reminds me of the movie lost in translation there are lights everywhere. The people are very nice so far, so we think, we can’t understand anything that they are saying.
Jenna and I taught our second week of class today and it was pretty brutal; kids are a tough crowd. I think I did ok for my first day it doesn’t seem to hard, I think after about a week I will have it down. Jenna on the other hand knows how to deal with kids and she did very well. I am the science/P.E. teacher and Jenna is the English/Math/Singing teacher. The classes are pretty small; the largest class is about seven kids. Compared to the States this is relatively low compared to the 25-30 students that teachers are accustomed to, however controlling 7 kindergartners is way more difficult. We have 25 different classes, with some classes meeting multiple times during the week, so as you can imagine planning is incredibly tedious. Dealing with runny noses and whinny kids all day really makes you want to have a beer after

work!
So far we have traveled to a town called Itewon as well as a couple different subway stations close to our house. Itewon is known as the foreign district, so it has all kinds of stores that you would find in the US. It also has street vendors that sell fake purses, sunglasses, electronics, ect. All of the stations have McDonalds and other stores that carry familiar food items, thank god!!
The night life is insane here. All restaurants and bars are practically open 24 hours a day. We have already decided on a favorite bar called Dublins, because they cater to a Canadian and American crowd and play all their music in English. We also went to a hookah bar that was pretty unique. The native alcohol here is called soju, which is a watered down vodka, but with an incredible hangover.
Next week we will be attending MUD fest! This essentially is a huge mud party. They have mud wrestling, mud slides and other various activities involving the mud. We now have a cell phone, home phone and mailing address so if you would like any of these please e-mail us. Hope to here

yay for updates
We are so glad you both are good way over there and thank God for the ability to communicate through internet..yay for technology! The pics are rad and it seems like you both have settled in. Your apartment really isnt too bad and its awesome that you can go to the American places like McDonalds and american bars. It must be so different to teach Korean kids and pratically be there parents throughout the course of class. Their parents are probably glad to get a brake lol. I bet they go home and tell their moms and dads about class and how cool thier teachers are :) Not much has changed here. Its getting really hot now that its summer. We miss you guys and are excited for more pics and updates! We will talk with you soon!
