Finally, Madrid

What is it with airlines and food in the economy section! Our short (by comparison) two hour jaunt from Frankfurt to Madrid included a meal service. Who knew! It was a pleasant surprise. However, the surprise was on me. We didn’t have the choices like on United. There as only one choice and the choice was rubber chicken. Even Madame Robb agreed that it was rubber chicken… and she never has a bad word to say about anything.

After a bumpy ride up to our cruising altitude, the flight evened out and was a nice relaxing flight into Madrid. We left the clouds behind as we passed over the Pyrenees into Spain. The approach to Madrid Aeroport was long and bumpy due to the heat coming off of the rolling hills. We were happy to get out feet on firm soil.

It’s 34 degrees Celsius, as we begin our land journey across Western Europe. Speaking of Western Europe, a “big shout out” goes out to Danielle Robb. I’m reading her college textbook book on Western History since the 1300s. Thanks sweetie!

Since we were coming from Frankfurt, we did not have to go through customs, nor even a passport check. All of the checked baggage arrived with us. It wasn’t a long wait; however, the happy wanderers were really tired after being up for more than 24 hours.

Each of us has a buddy, so after gathering bags, and counting the 9 buddy teams, we were out the door and greeted immediately by our ACIS travel guide. Michael O’Shaughnessy, is a young Irish lad assigned to our group for the next two weeks. He is a high school teacher of both French and Spanish in Dublin, Ireland. I’m sure the three teachers will bond tightly over the course of the next couple of weeks.

Michael escorted us to the big tour bus which will cart us around Spain and France. It was gassed, air-cooled and ready to roll. So far the trip from Center High School to the center of Madrid has gone without a hitch. Beinvendios to Europa.

Nice job Paul...
I was monitoring your flight online, and it looked like it took off about 30 minutes late. I tracked it right over SacTown, and ran outside waving my hands in the Parking Lot, but you probably couldn't see me through the smoke... Oh well, glad you guys had a safe flight over, and looking forward to more... BTW, we had great food on Lufthansa a few weeks ago. Must be like everything else - roll the dice... Be Safe... Doug
