Just arrived in Peurto Madryn which is in the a region called Chubut in Patagonia. Took 18 hours on the bus although the buses here in Argentina are far superior to Englands so it was quite a nice journey. Beunos Aires was truly amazing. It´s a massive city and I´ve never seen hustle and bustle like it! Not even in London. The people were amazing, so friendly and luckily most know a reasonable amount of English although we have been trying to speak Spanish and were slowly getting better. Met so many people, Argentinian and fellow backpackers. There are tonnes of Irish and Australians here. I won´t go into detail, but we saw lots of things in Beunos Aires. We saw Evita Perons grave and the the the buiding of the terrace she made her famous speech. We went to La Bombonera, home of the football team Boca Juniors where Maradona played (I was sporting my Preston North End shirt!) We went to museums and churches. To be honest though it was just walking the streets that was most fascinating. The are so many suburbs or barrios as there known here and they are all unique and equally impressive. We have been drinking the local cerveza Quilmos which is very nice! Wish we could have stayed longer in Beunos Aires, but we have to be in Bariloche (Ski resort) for the 8th and we had to come here first to see the Whales and penguins and sea lions that inhabit the coast here in Peurto Madryn. Interstingly we are actually in a Welsh community at the moment. Apparently the Welsh came here to farm in the late 1800s and set up several towns in this region. The land is actually very uninteresting. We drove for hours and hours on ruler straight roads and it was just flat desert on either side as far as the eye could see. Very bleak and hardly any signs of life. Suprisingly warm here considering we are along way south of Buenos Aires and it was cold and wet there. I will update you on the nature sites ASAP. Love to you all. Dave (some pics attached)
