We´re out early by Madrid standards - 6:15 p.m. This has been a packed day. We began this morning with a tour to the palace, there were only three in our group Terry, Susan and a gentleman from connecticut, Patrick, who works for IBM but was taking the day to sightsee. Our guide was Patrizia and she was very knowledgeable (or course that is her career!) Unfortunately we did not get photos of our guides. After two hours in the palace and area, we boarded a bus and Sylvia guided us through the high points of Madrid in both Spanish and English. She is having a baby - a daughter - in September. Then we had to find a dentist for Terry. We took a cab, upon the recommendation of our hotel, Terry received the care he needed and we walked back to the hotel - about an hour. We stopped for yogurt again and I plan to have that dish a few more times so that I can replicate it.
This hotel, the Westin Palace, is probably the nicest hotel in which we´ve ever stayed. It has every amenity and is beautiful. We´re still kind of pinching ourselves that we´re really here. Thank you, Ruth Ode, for your incredible planning. Everything has gone so smoothly and I hope the only incident will be the escalator in Atlanta. We were wondering if Elliot ever told his mom and dad about his escalator incident in Blackstone Valley with Nonna and Papa!
These photos are of us eating paella, taken by our server and then we took a photo of him. He was enthralled with Terry´s camera, so much so that if we´d had another camera we would have given it to him. He was really excited about it! Tomorrow we have an all-day tour to Toledo.
Well, we are having a problem uploading the photos. Will try to get help and send tomorrow.

Elliot's escalator ride?
Elliot has not mentioned any escalator adventures to us -- is there something we should know!? Maybe that explains why, when I told him about your escapades with the escalator at the Atlanta airport, he got a very concerned look on his face and said 'Oh no, I'm really worried about Nonna!' Hope you get the photos working soon -- I want to see that paella! Love you!
