A forecast of rain most of the day kept us from taking the 2 hour bus ride to Florence. Instead we opted for a quick 20 minute drive to Pisa - and we loved it. Great town, much smaller than we might have expected. The leaning tower was beautiful, not to mention very cool!

In our first "it's a small world" moment of our trip, we ran into a woman from Nashville buying gelato in Pisa. Go figure!

is it just me, or is that thing leaning? must be the kazillion tons of stone resting on the 10 foot foundation that did it.

this was one of three buildings in miracle sq in pisa, the baptism-o-rarium. what i thought was really cool was that it was originally built with an opening at the top of the dome so that people could be baptised by rain water. hey, it's better than standing outside and getting baptised by it in heavy doses like us tourists on this day.

We did not know of the Baptism-o--rarium. Thanks for the picture!
