This is the main room in our new apartment in Piazza Bologna.
Well, the apartment situation on Thursday night didn’t work out exactly like we had hoped. But the people we met (Davide’s friends - Manuela and Fabrizio) were really nice. They took us to see the apartment and it was so nice. Everything was clean, it had everything we would need, and it was decorated nice. Only problem, it had only one real bedroom with a double bed, and a pullout sofa with another double bed. The problem is that we are four people. Even if we wanted to share beds, we didn’t have enough room for our stuff. We were really disappointed too because it is in a really great area of Trastevere.

The good news is that they were such sweet people and they helped us out by calling one of their friends they knew had an apartment. We got really lucky because the apartment is available and fits all our needs. It’s a brand new place, and they’re purchasing all the furniture for us brand new. It has satellite TV, Internet and the best part - Air Conditioning!!! AC is not all that popular here, and the summers get really hot and humid. So, we’re going to need that for sure I think.

It’s just been really great that everyone has been so nice to us and has treated us like family. Manuela told us to call her if we ever needed anything. And Fabrizio invited us all to go to Abruzzo, where he teaches cooking classes, and he said he’d give us a class and take us on a tour. And Maurizio (the soon-to-be new landlord) said we could go with his wife Claudia to pick out our furniture.

Saturday night Davide came over and made us spaghetti carbonara (a Roman specialty). It was pretty easy to make and it was actually some of the best pasta I’ve ever had. Davide can cook for us anytime he’d like if it’s always going to be that good. I can’t wait to try making it myself. After dinner we all went out to Coyote again. It was a little more fun this time I think. It was a lot better going with a couple guys so they can check up on you every now and then to make sure the Italian men are staying in check. By the end of the night I had been awake for nearly 24 hours. I woke up at 7:30am on Saturday and then stayed out until close to 5:30am Sunday morning. We were getting ready for bed as the sun was starting to rise and the birds were chirping away outside. I’m still not used to this crazy lifestyle.

Sunday, after sleeping about 5 hours, we all woke up and had some breakfast and showered and then headed over to the bar to watch the soccer game. It wasn’t the outcome we had hoped for. And seriously, what is up with Catania? They scored one stupid goal to tie the game (which ruined Rome’s chance of winning the championship) and they were acting like they won the championship themselves. They didn’t even win the game! Do they hate Rome that much? And is Rome really that much worse than Milan that they’d rather have Milan win the championship than Rome? So, unfortunately, there was no big party in the streets of Rome. It was still a lot of fun to be a part of though.

I’m really excited about this week. Andrea, Jill, Jon and my brothers are all coming to visit. I am so excited to see them. After being here for just about 2 months, it will be great to see someone from home. Sunday night we watched National Treasure. It made me miss home just a little bit…but only just a bit 😊

At least we know he can do more than one thing at once. He can cook a nice pasta dinner all while talking on his cell phone.

Catania doesn't "hate Rome"
They tied the game which means they weren't relagated. Meaning they weren't one of the worst 3 teams in the league. If they had lost then they could have been. Which means you drop down to the AAA league in Italy. So it was a pretty big deal for them.

thanks
Thank you for the explanation. I'm having some trouble following all these leagues and championships, especially since nothing is in English and I only understand about 70% of the newspaper :(
