1: The grand tour 94 secs
Venice LAVenice LAVenice LA

Didn't realise they had canals here....

After seeing the famous locations in magazines and on TV etc.
We were so looking forward to seeing LA.

And as we only had a few days in L.A, we decided to do a grand tour.
That way, we would see most of the places of interest.....

We should have known better

(I don't know what's with these tours, they always leave us with a bad taste in our mouths....
They all have the same format, rush here, 5 mins there and then on to the next stop.)

The tour included Santa Monica (where "Baywatch" was filmed), yawn, yawn, no babes here.

Then we drove past famous peoples homes in Beverly Hills.
Star spotting!!!

Made us wonder, why do they live there with tourist riding up and down trying to get a glimpse.
I mean would you want tourists gaping in your windows?

Next stop Rodeo Drive.

Totally not what we expected!

It was tourist heaven and not a star in sight!!!
Nothing seemed real, so plastic, it was just like stepping into a film set.
They even ran a daily tram service for tourists!!!!

You kinda ask yourself "Why would any star want to shop there, with so many tourists around?"

And then it was "Mullholland Drive" to see the "Hollywood sign".
No getting close to this - Security will not let you!!

Then it was Hollywood Boulevard and the walk of fame.
(Another tourist trap)

With look-a-likes who didn't look anything like the stars they were meant to resemble, posing for money.
The only one's that did pull it off, were the disney characters.
But that's not hard to do when they have the full costume.

To say we were disillusioned is an understatement.
Tinsel town has lost it's sparkle

Seeing Hollywood on TV and in magazines will never be the same again for us.

But this is only our opinion.
Others on the tour seemed to be well into it.......

is that really you??
... or is it your stunt doubles?? You're in the right place for that to happen! Great to see the rich and famous are in the right place to meet you both!

The rich & famous
Yes it really is us! Stunt doubles would have cost far too much and we could think of a lot better things to spend our money on. Glad your still keeping up with us.
