Cambodia! six hours on a bus later from Bangkok we were at the border and teamed up with another couple to take a taxi for another four hours on some of the worst roads I've ever seen (and I've been to Bolivia!)

But bad roads aside it was good fun watching the scenery whizz past and also watching our driver dodge hundreds of other cars, motorbikes, bicycles, all kind of heavy plant machinery animals people and pot holes the size of bath tubs! I was in the passenger seat and hit my invisible brakes for him more times than I can remember...

It was all worth it though because at the other end was Siem Reap, a "beautiful" (using the broadest sense of the word) little market town with lots of good restaurants and plenty of good places to hang out.

The big draw of Siem Reap is the nearby Wats (Temples) the most famous being Angkor Wat, only about 15 miutes tuk tuk ride away and some of the most amazing ruins you'll ever see! there were so many we couldn't stop taking photos, and I think i'll let them show you what it was like unreal..

A six hour bus ride later finds us in the capitol of Cambodia Phnom Penh. A typical big asian city, lots of people and noise and pollution and strange smells everywhere. Phnom penh is also the place of the khmer roughes' worst atrocities and home to the killing fields which are the mass graves of thousands of cambodians forced out of the city by Pol Pot and his army to be sent to slave in the fields and ultimately executed under the pretense of creating a communist country.

Also another "attraction" was a prison come torture chamber converted from the local school where innocent people were interrogated and killed for confessions and where there mug shots and pictures of the poor dead souls still hang on the wall... all in all very disturbing experience and not one I'm sure we would recommend.

After this disturbing day, we visited a Orphanage, followed by a night out with some fellow backpackers.

Back on the road now to...Vietnam here we come!

back on the blog as requested
Is it mummy or daddy pig on the back of the bike? Did you see this sight a lot or was it a one off. Did it put you of your pork chops! Your photos are as great as ever. I am always looking at the blog during the day even if I do not leave any comments. Tim and David looked well. Not long before they are home. Looking forward to your next blog already.

Can pigs fly?!
Hello you two. I must say I agree with Mrs Brady- Tim and David do look well. I was shocked to see how much they have grown... That poor pig! They could at least have let him have the thrill of travelling on the back of the bike before they killed him for bacon sarnies! After reading this bit of the blog I have to say for once I'm not jealous! I bet you never thought you'd hear me say that! Take care xxxxxxx

WHERE ARE YOU NOW!
Just sat a work thinking about you both and wondering where you are now. Are you still in Vietnam? Hope you are both well and enjoying yourselves. I am wishing I was on holiday! It is raining here for a change. Looking forward to your blog update.
