Hey! I'm back in Rome after a relaxing week in Sicily. It was amazing there. The weather was beautiful down there and we're all nice and tan now. We stayed in Giardini Naxos which is the beach resort below Taormina. I highly recommend going there sometime. We stayed in an awesome fully stocked apartment. I'm in the process of posting pics now. I'm going to put all my pics at the following site: http://picasaweb.google.com/carlascardino/Italy2008. So, check it out often.

Right now Heather and I are sitting in the bar at the corner of our new apartment in the Testaccio area of Rome. This is like the "hippie" area with lots of "real" Italian bars, restaurants and clubs/discos. There are no tourists here and EVERYONE speaks Italian. They don't automatically start speaking English when they see us like they do in the other areas of the city. It's actually quite nice. This apartment is HUGE and is really nice compared to the last one. Plus it's really cool that Lauren, Heather, Debbie and I are now all living together. It's really nice so far. We're sitting in the bar using our laptops on the free WI-FI and watching the Roma soccer game. It's interesting in here with all the men yelling and screaming at the TV. Oh, and I finally have TV in the apartment. It's nice being back to reality and the 21st Century.

So, Sicilia...we were like movie stars down there or something. We got so much attention from EVERY man/boy on the island. It didn't matter if they were 16 or 87. We kept causing traffic jams when we walked down the street, haha. I don't think I'd like being a celebrity if that's what it's like. I guess we were just the "foreigners" in this tiny town during the off-season and people weren't expecting to see tourists.

But now we're back to the craziness of Rome. I hate tourists. Haha. It's been difficult getting used to the craziness of Rome after a relaxing week at the beach. You'll have to check out the pics. It was really very nice. I'll also post pics of the new apartment as well.

I hope everything is well. The weather has been beautiful here...actually it's been almost too hot. But we're enjoying it. I think tomorrow we are going to visit Mirko. He was quite sad we wouldn't be around all last week. We don't want him to get too sad and miss us too much, haha. I'll talk to you all soon. Roma just scored and the cafe errupted with screaming. I'm a bit scared, haha. The one guy just took off his shirt. I wonder what happens if they score two goals?!
