Had our first trip on the Oz bus and it was definitely the right choice of transport down the East Coast - it was great fun and you meet loads of people on it! Our first stop was at a Croc farm and this was so completly different to Malaysia - for a start the crocs were very much alive and only chicken wire was separating you from them ! The guides were like Steve Irwin and were crazy ! One of them came out to the bus as we arrived and as he got on he threw what looked like a toy croc on to Luke's knee so I just laughed - the next thing I knew his eyes opened and I realised he was a really baby croc with his mouth sellotaped !! I screamed and nearly gave the croc a bigger fright than it gave me ! Once inside we all got the chance to hold the croc, a parrot and if you wanted a python!! I couldn't hold the big python but did manage to build up the courage to hold the little one for about 3 seconds !! You can see the terror in my face! The farm was cool and the crocs were massive! They also have one particular pen with over a hundred crocs in it that basically is the handbag pen - they put them all in together and crowd them so they don't become territorial before it is their turn to be made into handbags!! We also got to feed Kangaroos which was pretty cool!

The Oz bus stops at a few different places and you can choose where you want to get off. Our first jump off point was Townsville where we made our way to Magnetic Island for a few nights. There really isn't much to do on Maggie but it was a nice chill out and the hostel was cool. It is stinger season (which means that the water is full of box jelly fish and other dangerous species that can kill you if they sting you) so you cant swim on the beach unless in a stinger net! Met up with Rhona again in Maggie and managed to find a big Irish crowd so a few good nights were had! Rented a car in Maggie to see the Island - all the backpackers rent these topless cars which are basically barbie cars !! They were hilarious to drive and we looked so funny in them - especially when Luke was driving as our car was pink !! Visited a Koala sanctuary in Maggie and got to hold Koala's for ages - they are so cute and fluffy but definitely look completely stoned !! You cant hold them in some states so it was really cool to get to hold them and be able to take lots of photos!

Left Maggie after 3 nights and rejoined the Oz bus for our trip to Airlie Beach ..
