Refreshing!
Gotta love an African hostel with a pool. After 24 hours of travel I landed in Joberg. While descending for landing the pilot informed us that there was about to be a storm.....and he wasn't kidding. As soon as the wheels of the plane hit the tarmac the sky opened up and the most rawkus thunderstorm I have ever experienced commenced. By the time we taxied to the terminal there were 3"- 4" of rain on the tarmac.
Took ages for the luggage to come through, but I finally retrieved my pack and went to find the person who was supposed to be holding a sign with my name, and would take me to the hostel. Of course it wasn't quite that easy, but eventually we located each other, and as soon as he found the other folks he was looking for we piled in a car and headed off to the hostel.
I was so relieved to have finally made it that I wasted no time getting into my room, getting a beer, drinking said beer, and falling into a much needed sleep.
Welcome to Afrika.
