Hello all! I just wanted to write about this past sunday, because it was incredible. Sundays are our free days and this sunday we went to see a bunch of waterfalls. On the way to the first one, we stopped at the Atherton Tablelands lookout. It was incredibly gorgeous (i took lots of pics. Will try to put some up later). Once we got to the place with the waterfall, we had to walk about a little over 2km to get to it (including crossing a "creek" which was much more like a stream or small river due to rain. fun times). But it was all worth it. The waterfall (nandryoa falls) was spectacular. It is one of the tallest in queensland i think. And we could swim in it. Which was beyond cool. Swimming around near a waterfall surrounded by rainforest vegetation is sooo amazing. I never wanted to leave. I couldn't quite get super close to the waterfall cause any time I started getting close, it got to the point where I couldnt hear, see, breathe, or move so I would have to swim away. lol. So yeah. Then after that we went to a dairy. OMG. I was
in heaven. fresh cheese and milk? oh yea. I got a ploughman's lunch. 3 different kinds of cheese, chutney, bread, a dip thing, salad and ham. yum yum yum. And I had a glass of milk to drink. oh my. so good. worth the price I had to pay. Following that we went on a waterfall circuit... basically these 3 waterfalls that are within close proximity to one another that you can drive to each one pretty much. All of those were also gorgeous. The third one was Milla Milla falls... which for those of you who saw my laptop before I left, that picture of the waterfall that was set as my background.. that was Milla Milla falls. Craziness. =) So yeah by the time we got back, around 5pm, i was exhausted but oh so happy.
So far this week has been pretty good. Monday we had class and then field exercise for forest managment class where we collected data then we organized it and such in the afternoon. At night the ping pong tournament started. I was in the beginner category because although I play a lot, never the real game. I didnt really know the
rules. So yeah I played and won my round. After that... people started watching Arrested Development. Which pretty much made my life complete. We watched 4 or 5 episodes I think, starting from the beginning. yay! =)
Yesterday we were in the lab doing flammability testing on some of our samples. And some other stuff. Then we had a LOT of free time. Which I tried to be productive in, with only minor success. I also watched part of Rushmore cause people in the common room were watching it and I was out there on my laptop. So yeah. At night the tournament continued. I played again and lost. Then i stayed to watch others play. It got pretty intense. They played through to the finals of the intermediate bracket. So next time it occurs, it will be the experts playing. So that should be pretty awesome to watch. =)
That is about all I have to write about for now. I have to write a news from the field for the SFS web site for next week so keep your eyes peeled for that. =) Hope everyone is doing well! I'll try and write more again soon!
