Cocktails and reading (my two main activities here)

As promised, the continuation of the blog I wrote last night. Last week my flatmates and I went out a couple of times for cocktails, and one time for Chinese New Year’s on the 6th of February. Coincidentally, it was also Waitangi Day, the national (but in reality Maori) holiday. The Octagon in the centre of town was closed for traffic and there was a stage and some stands for Chinese New Year’s, but it wasn’t that interesting to be honest… So we just went to Toast, our by now favourite cocktail bar! Sam and I also went shopping, which was very nice, although I of course bought too much... And last Saturday, Sayaka and I went out to go dancing, and we had a lot of fun (see pictures)!

Deryn and I also moved to our new office last week. I will be sharing a room with Kristy, the other student working on this project, so that’s nice, and the room is much bigger! We will be able to run various subjects at a time in our room, so that’s quite luxurious. Over the last week I have worked on the literature review of my thesis, and I am actually enjoying it very much! I really like the topic, and every article seems to lead to a new article, so I don’t think I’ll ever be done... But at least I still have quite some time left to finish my thesis. Although it will be much busier for me once data collection starts, but I hope I can still work on the literature review during data collection as well.

Alright, that’s about it for now, I think I’m going to go back to reading the zillion articles I still want to read for my literature review... Oh one more thing: my good friend Emma (from Utrecht) is coming to visit me in March! How cool is that?! She is coming to Dunedin somewhere in March, depending on the airlines and the rest of her New Zealand trip. Furthermore (sorry the thesis words are creeping in), my flatmates and me planned a girls’ weekend out in Queenstown in March, and Emma is going to come with us! Really looking forward to it... But first my mum and brother are coming, in a week already! So my next blog will probably be about our travels on the South Island!
